Meet Joshua Roig

I taught middle school kids for many years, including working with special needs students. I was one of ten U.S. educators to receive the 2020 Johns Hopkins Innovation in the Classroom awards. My experience and insight as a teacher are the subject of the American Writing Awards book finalist, Head of the Class: The Art of Teaching Outside the Lines. I am also the author of the multi-award winning children’s picture book, Willow the Skunk Gets Schooled: On Why it’s Good to Be Different. I enjoy traveling, racket sports, skiing, and hanging out at home with my wife, two sons, and five cats.

Secrets are meant to be kept; a lesson thirteen-year-old Alex Abrahms discovers the hard way during the most unpredictable summer of her life. Ecstatic to have a two-month retreat from all the awkweird changes she’s going through, Alex flips out when her parents decide to banish her to the retirement zone to spend the summer bonding with the eccentric grandparents she never cared to know. What Alex doesn’t realize, is she is about to be plunged into a summer of mystery, intrigue, and dark family secrets, testing her strength like never before.
